When I began making this dessert, I didn't know it was going to turn into a tart.
I had the strongest desire to play around with Black Sesame Powder in desserts, and decided to make something with a Black Sesame Cream the way you might use an Almond Cream. I also wanted to try playing around with a Grapefruit Cream recipe I recently fell in love with... One thing led to another and all of a sudden, this tart was manifesting before my eyes.
To round out the flavors, textures and colors, I also made a simple Vanilla Creme Pâtissière.
